Before the railroads, interstate travel was often done by means of Stagecoaches.Ben Holladay's Overland Mail and Express Company,Wells Fargo,A.J. Oliver & Company, Engell's Prickly Pear, Silver Creek Express, Chamberlain & Thomas, and Charles Smith's Gallatin Express were some of the most recognized names in this sort of transport. Wild days of long travel in hazardous conditions including bandits looking for the gold and payrolls being transported, and bad weather made journeying on these horse drawn passenger wagons expensive and often tedious.
A part of our history that is often depicted as part of the romantic Wild West, Stagecoaches remind us of Cowboys and uncharted territories and exciting times in the growth of our nation.
Barbara Jennings brings back the flavor of the Old West with a beautiful portrait of a four horse stagecoach in this Western Classic. Suitable for the beginning stitcher or expert alike a great project for 4 H or Wild West collectors!
